• locations of the 30 production transects are shown on Map 1, Southfield Mine Area -Vegetation <br />Transect Location Map. Copies of the original field data sheets for this area are found in <br />Appendix B -Copies Vento Reclamation -Production -Field Data Sheets. <br />Shrub Density. The shrub density counts obtained from the 30 belt transects taken in this area <br />are summarized in Table 5, Vento Reclamation -Shrub Density. The average shrub density was <br />determined to equal 14.60 shrubs per one hundred square meters or 590.9 shrubs per acre. <br />Rubber Rabbitbrush and Fourwing Saltbush were the most commonly encountered shrubs. <br />The revegetation shrub density success standazd for the area corresponding to the refuse pile azea <br />is 7.6 stems per acre and a yet to be defined figure for the mine portal azea, which is to be <br />determined based upon reference azea sampling. Since the portion of the Vento Reclamation, <br />corresponding to the refuse pile area averaged 590.9 stems per acre, it can be concluded that this <br />area appears to satisfy the revegetation success standazd with respect to shrub density. <br />The locations of the 30 shrub density transects sampled on this site are shown on Map 1, <br />Southfield Mine Area -Vegetation Transect Location Map. Copies of the individual field data <br />are found in Appendix C -Copies Vento Reclamation -Shrub Density -Field Data Sheets. The <br />sample adequacy calculations in Table 2, Southfield Mine Sample Adequacy Calculations, <br />document that the number of samples required to characterize this site with respect to shrub <br />density at the 90 percent confidence interval was 99.1 transects. <br />• dies Diversity. The percent relative composition or cover values in Table 3, Vento <br />Reclamation -Plant Cover, document that the four most dominant plant species growing on this <br />reclaimed site contributed a total of 56.43 percent of the total relative cover found on this site. <br />This is well within the maximum value of 80 percent required by the Permit. The two most <br />dominant warm season grass species contribute a total of 8.78 percent of the relative cover on <br />this site, which is well below the 50 percent required by the Permit.. These revegetation <br />monitoring data from this site confirm that the species diversity standazds for this reclaimed site <br />in 2006 are not satisfied. <br />CORLEY RECLAMATION <br />Plant Cover. The results obtained from the sampling of the 15 plant cover transects on this site <br />are presented in Table 6, Corley Reclamation -Plant Cover. Total plant cover on this site <br />averaged 30.93 percent and litter averaged 25.00 percent (Table 6, Corley Reclamation -Plant <br />Cover). <br />Perennial grasses dominated the seeded vegetation on this site contributing 21.07 percent of the <br />vegetative cover or 68.11 percent of the total relative cover on this site. Wester Wheatgrass, <br />Sand Dropseed, Blue Grama and Side-Oats Cmanra were the most commonly encountered <br />grasses, contributing 31.91, 10.99, 8.19 and 7.97 percent, respectively, of the total relative cover <br />found on this site. Perennial forbs contributed 4.20 percent of the total cover and 13.58 percent <br />of the total relative cover on this site. Cicer milkvetch was the most commonly encountered <br />• perennial forb on this site, contributing 6.90 of the total relative cover. Shrbs and subshrubs <br />
