This monitor station was located within the area of anticipated <br />moderate levels of potential contamination, and to monitor the reaction of the <br />groundwater surface to pumping from recovery well RW-1. <br />Inactive Stations <br />ACAW-1: A dip sample from an alluvial well located in the Apache Canyon alluvium at the mouth <br />of Apache Canyon. It was established to monitor potential effects of secondary or retreat <br />mining. This station is currently inactive as per CDMG approval. <br />ACF-1: A grab sample from, and a measurement of, a stream flume located in Apache Canyon <br />approximately one-half mile from the confluence with the Purgatoire River. It was <br />established to assess potential effects of secondary or retreat mining on stream quality <br />and flow. This station is currently inactive as per CDMG approval. <br />WPD-1: A grab sample station of the West Portal Mine discharge pipe at the New Elk Mine <br />located in the inactive West Portal Area. As with station NE-001, no data has been <br />collected since 1989 due to the sealing of the mine. <br />Thickener This site was established to monitor flows from the New Elk prep plant thickener <br />Pump: into the New Elk mine workings (TR-34). This activity has not been initiated. <br />Recycling This site was established to document the pumping of water from the New Elk <br />Pump: workings at NEW-4 to the Prep Plant.
