zoos
is to be used in analyses of embanlQnent stability of the Refuse Disposal land fill.
Measurements are reported in Table A-24. Data (annual minimum, maximum, mean) for
1994 through 2000 are presented in Table A-25.
UST Monitoring and Remediation Wells
As approved by CDPHE, the remediation system and monitoring wells were removed in 1999. The
NPDES discharge permit for the system has also been terminated.
MW-1: MW-1 a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located beyond the anticipated limits of
any contamination plume.
MW-2: MW-2, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located beyond the anticipated limits of
any contamination plume that might extend in a direction toward the Purgatoire River.
MW-3: MW-3, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located neaz the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located above the anticipated limits of
any contamination plume.
MW-4: MW-4, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located above the anticipated limits of
any contamination plume.
MW-5: MW-5, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of appazent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located within the area of anticipated
highest levels of potential contamination.
MW-6: MW-6, a well, was drilled to characterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located within the azea of anticipated
moderate levels of potential contamination, and to monitor the influence of the
groundwater surface to pumping from recovery well RW-1.
MW-7: MW-7, a well, was drilled to chazacterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industrial Building
at the New Elk Mine. This monitor station was located within the azea of anticipated
lower levels of potential contamination.
MW-8: MW-8, a well, was drilled to chazacterize and monitor remediation work of apparent
leakage from underground storage tanks (removed) located near the Industriat Building
626-AnnualHydrolic Monitoring(Apr.9.02).dac 11
April l7, 2002
