•
In the processing area (west of Academy Boulevard) the affected
lands are expected to remain fairly constant. Increases or decreases of
2 to 3 acres in any one category can be expected as the specific uses of
portions of the land change with the changing needs of the operation.
However, the net increase or decrease in the amount of land affected
should remain fairly constant.
MAP: The attached annual report maps are reductions of portions of the
mining plan map in the permit. Due to the reduction methods, so they
would each fit on 11" X 17" paper, the scales of each differ somewhat.
Furthermore, in the reduction methods, much of the topographic
information was lost. The function of the maps are primarily to show
the various land uses in relation to the phasing scheme and not
necessarily the relationship of the land uses to topography. In
general, the associated land uses of each of the delineated areas on the
maps are explained in responses to previous items, but some explanation
of the color coding may be helpful.
GREEN - Areas colored green or outlined in green represent areas
that were generally not used in the previous year. Most of the land in
this category is in its original, natural state, but portions of the
area in this category, especially on the west side of Academy Boulevard,
are actually disturbed by previous uses by the operation or by other
uses not directly associated with the operation.
RED - Areas in red generally delineate portions of the permitted
land that were directly related to the extraction activities of the
operation. This included actual mining areas as well as direct
processing of the mined material including the settling of sediment
subsequent to the washing of the mined material. It also includes areas
utilized directly in the marketing of the finished products to the
customers.
YELLOW AND ORANGE - These colors delineate areas that have a
variety of uses or were formerly used and are in some early stage of
reclamation activity. As areas under direct reclamation work are few,
no areas were specifically colored to show those areas. As the amount
of land in this category increases in the future a color will be
selected to show those areas in the more advanced stages of reclamation
work.
FILE 73-7 JAN. 10, 1986 PAGE 4 OF 4 ANNUAL REPORT
