<br /> <br />`~ <br />,._ <br /> <br />~~~_ ~ 1982 <br />June 22, 1982 <br />o. i or ;•la,wal Reso~!rces <br />Mr. Dick Gamewell <br />Radiation Control Division <br />Colorado Department of Health <br />4210 East 11th Avenue <br />Denver, Colorado 80220 <br />Re: Ore Sorter License Application <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Gamewell: <br /> <br />.. ~ IIII II~II~II~II~~I~~ <br />Please find enclosed Cotter's responses to comments made by the arlencies <br />indicated below, regarding the above-captioned license application. <br />Please note that Cotter's responses are itemized according to each agency <br />and each comment. <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />No response required. <br />Colorado Geological Survey <br />Comment No. 1 - "Because of the direct connection between this aquifer <br />[alluvial aquifer present in the valley along the Ralston Creek stream <br />bed] and the stream, we recommend that infiltration from ore stor~rge <br />areas be controlled." <br />Response to Comment No. 1 - The ore stockpile and waste rock stockpile <br />sites at the ore sorter are concrete pads. Runoff from the ore sorter <br />site is controlled. The ore transfer pad is constructed of concrete. <br />Comment No. 2 - "The draft license also indicates that a plan for a <br />water treatment plant be submitted to the CDH. We concur with the need <br />for their submittal and recommend that it include provisions for ~iebris- <br />flood protection." <br />Response to Comment No. 2 - Cotter has filed drawings and written analyses <br />of the new water treatment plant and flood protection design ~•~ith the <br />Radiation Control and Water Quality Control Divisions of the Colorado <br />Department of Health. In addition, all of the foregoing information <br />was filed by Cotter with the Jefferson County Commissioners for tl~e <br />purposes of obtaining county zoning approval and a building permit. <br />Construction of the new water treatment plant and concurrent construction <br />of the flood protection for it will commence as soon as the counts <br />building permit is issued. <br /> <br />`y' al (Ift i~•~ <br />+~. <br />
