Snyder Quarry
2003 Annual Report
Castle Concrete Company
M-77-210 -May 27
RECEIVED
JUN 0 ~ 2003
Division of Minerals and Geology
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2002-2003 operating year activity was virtually
dormant.
Annual Report Maps: Two maps are enclosed. The first map is a general map
showing the primary areas of disturbance. This is virtually identical to last year. The
second map (Weed Map) shows the locations and types of weeds on the site.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land has not increased.
Revegetation: Overall, the revegetation on this site looks good. The majority of the
base reclamation looks good and the grasses on the benches on the west side look great!
Nonetheless, vegetation is still needed in certain spots (along haul road). Broadcast
seeding of these areas in the fall is planned. The enhanced reclamation also looks good.
The saplings that were planted along the haul road have survived the drought and are
taking off with this spring's rain. More enhanced reclamation is planned for later this
summer. See page four of the attached text document for details.
Weeds: A weed inspection was conducted on May 2, 2003. Please see the attached
"Weeds and Reclamation Work" (prepared by Mark Heffner) for a summary.
Road Corridor: Over the past year very little activity occurred. As a result small
erosion channels formed. Castle plans on grading and smoothing out the haul road the
next time they resume activity.
Past Activity (2002 - 2003): Production was extremely minute. "Shot-rock" was sent
through the plant.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a corporate bond.
Castle Concrete 2003 Annual Report M-77-210 Snyder Quarry Page 1 of 1
