Permittee Name:
Permit No.:
Operation Name:
Anniversary Date:
Hendricks
M-77-410
Cross Mine
11/03/89

Mining Company
During the period November 3, 1988 to December 15, 1988, a new
7x7x135' crosscut tunnel was completed in Precambrian gneiss-
granite on the mine's tunnel level to intersect the new Apache
Vein. Approximately 500 tons of granite rock was brought to the
surface from this drifting. The rock was used to level our
existing parking lot area to the east and build a berm around the
dump area per MSHA requirements. This rock was placed within our
current permit boundaries. A small crew of two men advanced this
drift. Construction of a new air hoist and steel work was also
completed in our existing winze room during this period. Between
December 15 and May 1, the mine was closed and kept on a mainten-
ance basis only.
On May 1, I started a very small mining program on the new Apache
Vein tunnel level. This was accomplished with no real oF~eration-
al budget. The purpose of the program was to advance on the new
Apache Vein approximately 70' for bulk sampling purposes. It was
also to prove the continuity of the vein from the Precambrian
gneiss well into the quartz monzonite. I completed this small
mining program on Tuesday, October 24. Two hundred fifty-seven
tons of newly mined ore came from this project and was trucked to
the Boulder Mill for future processing. This came from 70' of
slusher drifting with the construction of two 4x7` raises, 25' up
on 50' centers. Approximately 102 tons of granite and monzonite
waste rock came from this drifting and the waste rock was
deposited similar to the previous 500 tons.
On August 17, 1989, our joint venture partners, Hercules Mining -
East West Minerals of Sydney, Australia, defaulted on their joint
venture agreement with us, leaving us with significant ~9ebt but
in control of the property 1008. At that point, I was able to
begin discussions with parties for a new financing. Discussions
and meetings are continuing.
I closed the mine on Wednesday, October 25 and placed it on a
care and maintenance basis. Very sporadic pumping is occurring
with a small 5 h.p. Flyght pump 8 sets below the Second Level.
All requirement under our NPDES permit are being maintained for
this small scale pumping. The mine will not re-open until a new
financing is completed. We have caretakers on the property full
time and I will continue to do routine maintenance work on site
as required. I also maintain a residence on the property.
