• ENERGY FUELS COAL, INC.
SOUTHFIELD MINE
QUARTERLY HYDROLOGY MONITORING PROGRAM
DATA SUMMARY
1990 AHR
INTRODUCTION
Southfield's hydrology monitoring program continued to
provide surface and ground water data for the period of this
report. All data are summarized on tables which also contain all
previous available monitoring data.
SURFACE WATER
Field and laboratory data collected from the surface water
monitoring location are shown on Tables 15 and 16, Water Quality;
and Table 14, Streamflow Measurements. The monitoring point on
Second Alkali Creek, added to the program as a result of Permit
Revision PR-O1, has been included in the summary data tables.
No surface water flow was observed at the four monitored
locations during the reporting period. These conditions are
consistent with those of the previous monitoring period and again
are a result of low snowpack levels and reduced precipitation.
The required surface water monitoring program continues to
monitor the impacts of mining operations on the surface water
system adjacent to the mine and loadout facilities. Monitoring
data indicate no significant Impacts to surface water as a result
of Southfield's operations.
GROUND WATER
Field and laboratory analysis data collected From the five
monitoring wells are summarized on Table 9, Water Levels; Figures
3 through 5, Water Level diagrams; and Tables 10 through 13, Water
Analysis data. In addition, monitor well locations MW-8, MW-10,
MW-16, MW-23 and MW'65 are depicted on Plate 1, mine map.
Water level data for all wells indicate a gradual decreasing
level for the reporting period, consistent with data for tine last
2 to 3 years. The decreasing levels may be attributed to a
combination of a gradient condition towards the mine works and
reduced recharging from precipitation.
A review of the quality data for the reporting period as
compared to previous data indicate no significant changes in
ground water quality. Long term trends, such as decreasing SAR
• values in all the wells, continue to prevail. Monitoring wells
