~ ~ III IIIIIIIIIIIII III ~~
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: March 30, 1989
T0: Cathy Begej, Jeff Clayton, Carl Mount
FROM: Tim King O
RE: Seneca II and Seneca IIW AHR
Seneca II Ground Water
It appears that each ground water site was monitored, and all parameters were
tested. However, the following sites showed no parameters at all, but did
show depth to water: GW-42P1, GW-525, GW-565. The frequency was twice
annually at each site. However, the following sites showed only one sample:
GW-S8, GW-S8P1, GW-559, GW-560, GW-563, GW-564.
Throughout the site examinations the following parameters were exceeded
consistently, in order of frequency of exceedance: Sulfide, Sulfate,
Manganese, and Iron.
Seneca II Surface Water
It appears that each surface water site was monitored, and all parameters were
tested, except in cases of no-flow, or light-flow. However, the following
sites tested less than the required number of parameters: Springs #1, i12, #3,
#5, spoil springs #1 and #6. It also appears that the detection limits for
Mercury were not met. All field parameters were monitored monthly except in
cases of no-flow.
Throughout the site examinations, the following parameters were exceeded
consistently in order of frequency of exceedance: Total Dissolved Solids,
Silver, Sulfate, Dissolved Manganese, Aluminum, Total Iron, Total Manganese,
Dissolved Iron. This matches the Seneca IIW surface water analysis.
Seneca IIW Ground Water
It appears that each ground water site was monitored, and all paramenters were
tested. However, the following sites showed no parameters at a11, but did
show depth to water: GW-S2W-14-0, GW-S2W-16-0, GW-S2W-16-W. Site GW-52W-14W
showed no parameters or depth to water. The frequency varied at each site.
However, the following sites required three samples but showed two or less:
Temple Well, GW-S2W-15-0, GW-S2W-17-0, GW-S2W-18-0, GW-S2W-15W, GW-S2W-17W,
GW-S2W-18W.
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
