• Savage and Savage
Memorandum
To: Donald W. MacDonald, Coors Energy Company
From: Michael Savage, Savage and Savage, Inc.
Date: December 19, 2002
Subject: Fourth Quarter 2002 Pest and Disease Inspection; Keenesburg Mine
File #: C-81-028
On December 19, 2002 I conducted an inspection of the reclaimed and revegetated azeas
at the Keenesbwg Mine for evidence of plant pests or diseases that could affect the re-
established vegetation at the Keenesburg Mine.
Vegetation at the mine was in good condition given the drought conditions during the
2002 growing season Nearly all revegetated azeas showed growth and flowering by
native cool and warm season grasses, though overall stature was much reduced from
normal precipitation years. Few annual weeds were observed throughout the revegetated
azeas. All reclaimed and revegetated areas of the mine, including the 1985, 1986, 1987,
• 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001 seedings, and azeas seeded to sorghum were inspected
by pedestrian and vehicle means. The sediment pond bottom and sides were also
inspected for arty potential weedy invasive species. No disease conditions at any of the
reclaimed and revegetated areas were observed: Nor were any plant pests, which had
affected the growth of the vegetation during the past growing season, found. No bare
areas, areas evidencing wind or water erosion, or azeas which experienced any infestation
or blight were identified during the inspection.
C: Keenesburg Pest and Disease Inspection File
r1
L_J
AHR-2002 _qq_
