sampling information for the 1998 reseeded or interseeded azeas is contained in Tables 8 <br />and 9. <br />• Vegetation Cover <br />Total vegetation cover of the 1998 reseeded or interseeded azeas was the highest of all <br />azeas sampled in 2002 with 29.80 percent. Graminoids provided 16.40 percent mean <br />cover (54.17% relative cover), forbs accounted for 12.80 percent mean cover (43.45% <br />relative cover), one succulent contributed 0.40 percent mean and ].79 percent relative <br />cover, and one shrub contributed 0.20 percent mean and 0.60 percent relative cover. <br />Total cover values were variable between the individual azeas within the 1998 reseeded or <br />interseeded azeas. The lowest total vegetation cover of the pazcels sampled was found in <br />Area 10 (22%) and the highest cover was encountered in the same pazcel (40%). Kochia <br />scoparia was encountered in all the reseeded or interseeded azeas, and in 70 percent of all <br />transects. Calamovilfa longifolia and Bromus tectorum were encountered in four of the <br />five pazcels. Calamovilfa longifolia was found in 80 percent of the transects and Bromus <br />tectorum in 70 percent of transects. <br />Within the 1998 reseeded or interseeded azeas, Kochia scoparia accounted for the highest <br />overall cover with 10.40 percent mean cover and 36.31 percent relative cover. The warm <br />season perennial grass Calamovilfa longifolia contributed the second highest cover values <br />with 8.40 percent mean cover and 27.38 percent relative cover. Bromus tectorum <br />accounted for 3.00 percent mean cover and 9.52 percent relative cover overall. Three <br />additional species contributed significantly to cover; Andropogon hallii with 1.40 percent <br />• mean cover (6.55% relative cover), Agropyron smithii contributed 1.40 percent mean and <br />4.17 percent relative cover, and Helianthus annuus provided 1.20 percent mean total <br />cover and 3.57 percent relative cover. <br />Vegetative litter (prior yeazs growth, dead wood, and other biologic organic material) <br />comprised 43.40 percent ground cover overall within the 1998 reseeded or interseeded <br />azeas. Baze soil comprised 26.80 percent of the ground cover. No rock or cryptogams <br />were encountered during the cover sampling in the 1998 reseeded or interseeded areas. <br />Herbaceous Production <br />Total herbaceous production within the 1998 reseeded or interseeded azeas this yeaz was <br />the highest of all areas sampled with 79.08 g/mz (705 lb/ac). Perennial grasses <br />contributed 46.67 g/mz (416 Ib/ac) to herbaceous production in this azea, comprising 59.0 <br />percent of total herbaceous production. Annual forbs were the second largest contributor <br />to herbaceous production in this azea with 23.87 g/m2 (213 ]b/ac) or 30.2 percent of total <br />herbaceous production. Perennial forbs provided 5.79 g/m2 (52 lb/ac) or 7.3 percent of <br />total herbaceous production. Annual grasses provided 2.76 g/m2 (24 Ib/ac), which was <br />three percent of the total mean herbaceous production.
