• 3. SPRING AND SEEP MONITORING
Requirement
Between April 1 and May 15 a spring and seep monitoring plan
is to be implemented on the reclaimed areas.
For springs having a flow greater than 75 gpm, a "full suite"
list of 25 parameters are to be analyzed.
In addition, these springs will be sampled monthly for the
field parameters pH, conductivity, temperature and estimate of
flow.
If no flow exceeds 75 gpm, an annual full suite analysis for
the single largest spring will be completed.
Mitigation involves the subsequent evaluation of each spring
or seep and the subsequent determination of the need for
remedial action.
Response
On April 28, 1992, a spring and seep survey was completed
• at the Hayden Gulch minesite. A brief discussion of each site
follows.
Summaries of the field and lab analysis can be found in
Exhibit 5. Refer to the 1987 Annual Reclamation Report for a
more complete discussion of each site.
RSP-1 - No significant change in flow. Conductivity
decreased and pH decreased. No mitigation
required.
RSP-2 - No significant change in flow. Conductivity
increased and pH decreased. No mitigation
required.
RSP-3 - No significant changes in flow. Conductivity and
pH decreased. No mitigation required.
RSP-4 - No significant changes in flow. Conductivity
decreased and pH decreased. No mitigation
required.
RSP-5 - The vicinity of the seep had been regraded in 1987.
The seep was not evident during this sampling.
RSP-6 - Again this area was nothing more than a moist area,
and no sampling was possible.
3
