Annual Report, Hay Camp Pit, M-1990-025, 2005-2006 Page 2
The County plant is not currently on site, but is expected to move in June. Following
mining of Area A (13.5 acres), the County plant will most likely relocate to Area F
(following mining and grading to final contours of the north portion of that area), in July
2005. This will allow all of Area A, the 9.9 acres to the south, and about half of area E
(9.4 acres); a total of 32.1 acres, to be brought to final grade, topsoiled, and seeded in
Fall 2006, with anticipated release to be requested in Spring 2008.
A new county road is being planned for construction along the south side of the permit
area, in conjunction with adjacent landowners. Although this will be permanent and
outside the permit area, it will probably be used for access by both County and 4SA
vehicles, which will allow better traffic flow and possibly more rapid reclamation of other
areas. However, it will not replace any permanent roads identified as part of final
reclamation in the permitted area.
Following relocation of the County Plant, the County will begin mining in Area B, and
then (either in 2006 or 2007) move south into Area C. This may be done just by the
County or by both 4SA and the County. The 4SA plant, upon its return from Line Camp
Pit sometime in late Summer 2006 will most likely relocate to the south end of Area F,
and will use material being mined from F, D, and possibly C. Extraction in Area D will
NOT include areas within 100 feet of WAPA power pylons, as shown on the map.
Efforts to control weeds will continue, and the owner may do some grazing of cattle in
older reclaimed areas, but will do so carefully to prevent overgrazing. A well was not
installed in 2005, but that is still an option for 2006-7, to permit, site, and drill a
permanent well, probably in the southeast portion of the site, to provide water for
livestock, some irrigation, dust control, washing of product, and future on-site use.
If there are any questions, please call me at (970) 565-3388, or contact our
environmental engineer, Nathan Barton, at (605) 390-7255 or (970) 564-1380.
rely,
Aryol B mley
Co-Manager
Four States Aggregates, LLC
Map attached.
CF:
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Durango Office
701 Camino del Rio
Durango, CO 81301 VIA FAX 970-237-5104
