Site <br />characteristics include: reclaimed 20% slope on hill sideslope position; west aspect; <br />mixed reclamation grasses and forbs, excellent cover and productivity; reapplied topsoil; <br />well drained; moderate permeability; no erosion at site; sampled September 9, 2005; soil <br />samples for lab include 0-T' (reapplied topsoil}, 7-18" (reapplied topsoil), 18-29" (mix of <br />reapplied topsoil and weathered overburden spoil), 29-48" (overburden spoil), and 48-72" <br />(overburden spoil). <br />A horizon - 0 to 7 inches; dark grayish brown {1 OYR 4/2) loam to clay loam texture with <br />15% gravels, very dazk grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; moderate medium granular <br />structure; slightly hazd dry consistence, friable moist consistence, slightly sticky and <br />slightly plastic wet consistence; common fine and very fine, and few medium roots; <br />slightly calcareous to noncalcareous, neutral (pH 6.9, from lab data); gradual wavy <br />boundazy. <br />C1 horizon - 7 to 18 inches; dazk grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) loam to clay loam texture <br />with 15% gravels, very dazk grayish brown (lOYR 3/2) moist; weak coarse granulaz <br />structure; slightly hazd dry consistence, friable moist consistence; slightly sticky and <br />slightly plastic wet consistence; common fine and very fine, and few medium roots; <br />slightly calcareous to noncalcazeous, neutral (pH 6.8, from lab data); gradual wavy <br />boundary. <br />C2/OB1 horizon - 18 to 29 inches; light brownish gray (lOYR 6/2) loam to sandy clay <br />loam texture with 25% gravels, dazk grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) moist; horizon has some <br />overburden mixed in with the soil; horizon is a mixture of reapplied topsoil and <br />overburden spoil; massive structure; hard dry consistence, friable moist consistence, <br />sticky and slightly plastic wet consistence; few ftne and very fine roots; moderately <br />calcareous, neutral (pH 7.3, from lab data); gradual wavy boundary. <br />OB2 (overburden spoil) - 29 to 48 inches; grayish brown (1 OYR 5/2) loam to sandy clay <br />loam overburden spoil, dazk grayish brown (lOYR 4/2) moist; compacted, massive <br />structure; hard dry consistence, firm moist consistence, sticky and plastic wet <br />consistence; moderately calcazeous; neutral (pH 7.3, from lab data); gradual wavy <br />boundary. <br />r 1 <br />U <br />5 <br />
