The technical revision (TR-39) was approved and work has begun to meet the provisions of the <br />revision, although the process has been slowed considerably due to consistently bad weather <br />tlvoughout most of the quarter. <br />No subdrain system is required by our permit, as geotechnical investigations for [he disposal site <br />revealed no ground water present. <br />Permanent out slope remain at approximately 85% complete on the toe of sub-area 2-3 and <br />approximately 55% complete on the toe of sub-area 4. These slopes appeared stable. Pit 5 consists <br />of a thin layer of refuse over the entire area. <br />A groundwater monitoring well had been drilled between sub-areas 1 and 2-3. To date. no water has <br />accumulated in the well. <br />At the end of the second quarter a total of 1,891,895 tons of refuse have been placed in sub-area 2-3, <br />a total of 1,437,047 tons of refuse have been placed on sub-area 4, and a total of 232,348 tons of <br />refuse have been placed in sub-area Sa. <br />A total of 10 compaction tests were performed on sub-area 2-3. All areas tested exceeded the <br />required Proctor level of 90%. <br />The large cut and unconsolidated area in RP-2/3 left-over from the refuse storage of a few years ago <br />is being rehabilitated and prepazed for further refuse storage. The storage of the refuse had wet the <br />underlying pile. This wet material is being removed, dried and then is being re-compacted. The re- <br />compaction process is being monitored closely for method and compaction. This process was not <br />quite complete before work was stopped for weather reasons. There appears to be a shallow <br />depression left were the work was being done. Work will be performed to fill the depression or to <br />provide drainage so that no standing water will be allowed to collect on the pile. <br />Both the topsoil and subsoil piles for sub-areas 2-3 and 4 have been seeded and are stable. All of <br />these seeded areas plus the area disturbed during the reclamation of sub-area 1 show vegetative <br />growth. The topsoil and sub-soil piles along ~vitli the pond and other disturbed areas associated with <br />pit Sa mostly covered with vegetation despite a dismal growing season this year. All organic <br />material and topsoil was removed prior to the storage of refuse in all areas. <br />Sub-area 1 Itas been reclaimed and is no longer in use. <br />The repair of the RP-4 refuse pond was checked and appears to be very stable. At the request of the <br />DMG a pair of survey monuments were set in the embankment to help in the detection of any <br />movement. <br />
