<br />WILDLIFE STATEMENT <br />• The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for <br />use by the Mined Land Reclamation Board in their consideration of <br />a mining permit for "Chambers Pit", Elam Construction Co., <br />1225 South 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501 <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife does hereby find, to the best of <br />our knowledge, that the impact of the proposed mining operation on <br />wildlife will be <br />X minorv/ <br />moderate <br />major <br />Mine Location: SZ Sec. 17, N~ Sec. 14, T6S, R93W; two miles east of <br />Rifle on north bank of the Colorado River. <br />Wildlife Species List: (may be attached) <br />Mule Deer Grey Fox <br />Raccoon Ducks (Mallard, 7ea1, Widgeon, Goldeneye, etc.) <br />~ • Cottontail Rabbit <br />Canada Geese <br />Endangered Species Impacted: Bald Eagles frequent the area, but <br />definitely will not be impacted if no Vgature cottonwood trees are cut. <br />Assessment of Impact on Wildlife: (may be attached) <br />The wildlife values associated with this site are primarily dependent <br />on the deciduous woodland vegetation on the bank of the river. <br />Protection of this vegetation will minimize adverse impacts. <br />Reclamation Recommendations: (may be attached) <br />1. Follow SCS rehabilitation and revegetation plans. <br />2. Leave the shoreline as irregular as possible and regrade to 3:1 slope <br />3. Pile the spoils randomly on the pond bottom to make the bottom <br />as irregular as possible. <br />4. The berm between the pit and the river should be 100' wide. <br />5.
