' MONITORING INFORMATION
MOFFAT AREA SUMMARY
Ten separate blocks are designated in the Moffat Area. These areas are shown on Exhibit
1, Sheet 1 of 2, of this report. Table 1 provides a summary of the inventory data and is followed
by a brief description of each area and the corrective measures performed on each block as a
result of previous inventories. The numerical value for each block represents the composite
erosion condition soil surface factor (S5F) score as determined by the inventory methods.
All of the blocks scored in the stable category during this survey. The relatively low
values were in part due to increased vegetative cover. The winter of 2003-2004 was very mild
with low precipitation and little runoff. In addition, June 2004 was wetter than usual with
' precipitation coming in low intensity storms. This permitted 2003 repairs to establish vegetation
and vegetation in stable rills and gullies to become better established. Gullies in Block 5 have
been identified for repair this year.
~ Table 1: Moffat Area Erosion Inventory Data Summary
' Area 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998 1997 1996 1995
Block] 4 4 4 4 6 6 12 18 17 22
Block 2 4 4 4 4 4 6 6 12 26 18
Block 3 6 6 6 6 6 9 12 18 21 23
'
Block 4 4 4 4 4 6 9 12 18 18 26
Block 5 32 12 12 12 18 6 6 9 21 32
Block 6 10 ll ll Il II 9 9 IS 24 26
Block 7 6 6 6 6 9 9 9 24 20 43
Block 8 8 9 9 9 2 9 9 ZS 24 43
Block 9 S 11 11 ll 6 6 6 24 30 37
Block l0 6 6 6 12 l2 9 9 36

Block 1 contains live-handled roto-cleared topsoil (1992) that did not receive additi onal seeding
' as a test block for the reintroduction of native plant species on live-handled roto-clea red topsoil.
• Repair of single gully on northern portion of Block (1994).
• A portion of the northern section of Block received interseeding in 1995 as described in the
1995 Annual Reclamation Report.
Block 2 contains live-handled roto-cleared topsoil that was seeded in the spring of 1993.
• 1995 -Gully shaped and matted, Downdrain 3.
• 1998 -Downdrain 3 was reconstructed and riprapped.
• 2002 -Downdrain 3 was reconstructed and riprapped.
Block 3 contains live-handled roto-cleared topsoil (1993) that was seeded in the spring of 1994.
• 1996 -Lower slope area redisturbed to blend into Lower Moffat Road; gullies in redisturbed
area repaired and reseeded during the reshaping activity.
2
