• Monitoring Well Water Quality
Water quality monitoring results are in table form in Appendix B and C. Generally, quality
parameters at all groundwater monitoring wells were within historic ranges. No significant
abnormalities were noted during 1997-98.
Surface Water Monitoring Results
Table 1 in Appendix A, shows the approved Surface Water monitoring program for the New
Horizon Mine. This includes seven (7) NPDES discharge points.
Surface Water Monitoring
Appendix B and C document the 1997-98 water year monitoring data including flow rates and lab
analysis. The data is shown both in table and graph form. Normal fluctuations in water levels
were concurrent with irrigation season and spring runoff.
Water quality monitoring results are in table form in Appendix B and C. Generally, quality
• parameters at all groundwater monitoring wells were well within historic ranges. No significant
abnormalities were noted during the 1997-98 water year.
NPDES Discharge Monitoring
Appendix B, C and D contains the flow and water quality data for seven (7) NPDES discharge
points. At New Horizon 1, only NPDES 001 discharged while ponds 002, 003, 004, 005, and
006 an evoporation rate equal or greater than inflow rates. At New Horizon 2 Mine NPDES 007
(SW-N102) discharged during the period. All NPDES discharges were within parameter
limitations for water quality and quantity.
Whole Toxicity Testing (WET)
Whole Toxicity Testing was conducted on water discharged front Pond 007 on a quarterly basis
and from Pond 001 on an annual basis. All test during this period passed. The results are shown
in Appendix D.
Probable Hydrologic Consequences
There were no extra-ordinary changes in the hydrological system at the New Horizon Mine area
during this year.
•
