Introduction
This report is submitted to the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, in fulfillment of the
requirements outlined in Section 2.04.7 of the 1996 version of Permit C-8'.1-008. The approved
hydrologic monitoring program was governed under TR. 24 which is shown as "Rev. 4/5/96," in
Appendix A. This report presents the data and analysis resulting fi'ont the hydrologic monitoring
program for the period 1 October 1997 through 30 September 1998.
Activities at New Horizon 1 Mine consisted solely of reclamation while at New Horizon 2 h4ine
both mining and reclamation were conducted.
For Hydrologic Monitoring Sites, refer to the "Surface and Ground Water Monitoring Sites",
Map 2.04.7-1-a of the 1997 permit C-81-008.
•
Groundwater Monitoring Results
The groundwater monitoring plan outlined in Appendix A, Table I, was followed during 1997-98.
All monitoring criteria were complied with and no abnormalities were encountered.
Monitoring Well Water Levels
Appendix B and C contain the water level measurements taken and lab analysis performed during
this monitoring period. The data is shown both in table and graph form. Normal fluctuations in
water levels were analogous with the irrigation season.
At New Horizon 1 Mine, wells GW-10, GW-24, GW-26 and GW-28 remained dry during 1997-
98. Comparison Graphs for wells GW-I, GW-3, GW-4, and GW-8 for years 1979 to present
show no significant water level changes.
At New Horizon 2 Mine, only seasonal variations due to irrigation water were recorded. There
was no significant variance from previous years data. Well GW - 38 remained dry throughout the
year.
• 1
