Located north of longwall Panel 18 neaz the mouth of Box Canyon about 1,500 ft <br />south of Highway 133 and 300 ft north of the intersection of old drill road with the recently <br />reclaimed drill road. <br />• No subsidence-like features were noted <br />from highway to Location 1. <br /> <br />• A few thin-skinned landshdes (debris <br />flows for the most part) occur on east <br />side of canyon below the sandstones <br />(three tongues in this area) that separate <br />the lower Coal Bearing Member of the <br />Mesaverde Formation from the upper <br />Barren Member. <br />A rockfall occurs on [he east side of <br />Box Canyon about 1,000 ft south of this <br />site (Figure 2). The rockfall, which occurs along joints in the lower sandstone tongue that <br />separates the Coal Bearing Member from the Barren Member of the Mesaverde <br />Formation, likely occurred in the last 5-10 years. <br />Location 2. Located in the bottom of Box Canyon about 150 ft south of the northern four gate <br />roads of projected longwall Panel 18. <br />• Projected overburden thickness to B- <br />Seam is 650 ft. <br />• No cracks or depressions observed <br />between Locations 1 and 2. <br />• Afresh-looking debris flow occurred to <br />west of site on the west side of Box <br />Canyon. Major movement on the slide <br />likely has occurred in the last five yeazs. <br />• A depression, about 20 ft wide and long, <br />occurs in the road an estimated 150 ft <br />south of this site.
