Subsidence Freld Observetlons <br />Wesl Elk Mine <br />July 22.24, 2003 <br />Location 6: <br />From this location an Traverse A-.4' (500 feet east of Paint A') the small landslides (debris <br />flows) Un the southwest flank of West Flatiron arc clearly visible, and can be well documented in <br />the aftcmoan sun. <br />The dcbns flows arc located above the gate road entries (rigid pillar design) between mined- <br />uut longwall panels l4 and IS. the southernmost part of longwall Panel Id, and the norihcrn <br />puri of longwall Panel 15. <br />These dcbns flaws look alder and less disturbed each of the four or five years that they have <br />txen observed. The flaws appear to be older and as stable as they werir prior to any mining in <br />the urea (Figure 10). <br />• The overburden depth to the B-Scam in the slide area rdngcs from 1,600 to 2,100 feet. <br />• In summary, no effects were observed on these debris flows as u result of mining longwall <br />Panels ld and 15. <br />h'{Rurc 10.
