Subsidence Freltl Observalwns <br />West Eik Mine <br />July 22.24, 2003 <br />• The upper port (scarp area) of the landslide is located in a sandstone cliff along two sets of <br />intersecting joints. The lower part (toe area) occurs in mostly colluvium and some bcdroek. <br />• As described in the 2002 report (Page 9), the landslide is estimated to be about 70 percent <br />caused by mining and 3U percent related to natural causes. •I'he landslide is located within the <br />area of mining influence of longwall Puncl I~ lMap 11 and was not observed prior to mining <br />within its amu of influence. <br />• The lower part of the slide looks considerably more vegetated than last year, and the point of <br />ruck in the middle of the head ;carp (formed by two intersecting joints) has coved off. <br />Figurr Y.
