1

1
Aggregate Industries - F Street Site Characterization Report
Project Number 1001018 Pnxn~oN
October 9, 2001
Page 8
impacts to the property boundary, surficial soils, subsurface utilities, structures, registered
groundwater wells and nearby surface water bodies are described in the following sections of
this report. As described in Section 4.3 of this report, the groundwater flow appears to be to
the northeast at the site.
6.1 Property Boundary
' The downgradient property boundary is located approximately 600 feet northeast of the
release area. To date, concentrations of BTEX have not exceeded the MCLs in groundwater
' samples collected from the site, including the two (2) wells installed in the abatement
excavation. Therefore, potential impacts to the property boundary do not appear to be likely
at this time.
6.2 surficial Soils
' Impacted soils in the "smear" zone appear to be located approximately l1 to IS feet below
grade. The vertical and lateral extent of impacted soil appears to be bracketed based on soil
samples analyzed from the site. Future activities for the spill area include the mining of the
' gravel resources. Impacted soils encountered during future mining activities in the spill area
should be handled appropriately.
' 6.3 Subsurface Utilities
Subsurface utilities reportedly are not present in the impacted area with the exception of the
' electrical service for the AST. That electrical service is reportedly buried at a depth of
approximately two (2) feet below grade while groundwater is located approximately 5.6 to
' 7.3 feet below grade in the impacted area. Therefore, potential impacts to subsurface
utilities do not appear to be likely at this time.
' 6.4 Structures
Stnuctures are not present within the impacted area. Therefore, potential impacts to
structures do not appear to be likely at this time.
1
6.5 Registered Groundwater Wells
' A list of registered wells within a '/:-mile radius of the subject site was obtained from the
Colorado Division of Water Resources. The registered wells are summarized in Table 4 in
Appendix B and their approximate locations are shown on Figure 7 in Appendix A. As seen
t from Table 4 and Figure 7, 25 registered wells are located within a %-mile radius of the site.
One (l) of the registered wells was listed three (3) times (Permit Number 3597F/3597FR).
1
