water monitoring points were near the P&M Edna mine and were recording fluctuating
data. The mine has not affected the prevailing groundwater conditions and it is not
expected that the reclaimed site will affect any local groundwater in the future.
The alluvial well adjacent to Trout Creek immediately upstream which was used for
the upstream hydrologic station has been reclaimed and the readings are taken in Trout
Creek, approximately 9 feet away from the station. In 1998, all sampling will occur in
the newly installed shallow piezometer wells.
The previous downstream station, Pittsburgh and Midway's TR-1.5 sampling site, is
also over 2 miles away from the Apex site. There is no evidence of ground water
problems due to the Apex #2 Mine, based on any of the sample data.
