. ~=
PAGE TWO
NOVEMBER 3, 1986
TOM GILLIS

The subsidence surveys and an on-going parallel study of the impact of subsidence
on the ground water hydrology have indicated that subsidence has no significsnt
effect on the ground water hydrology. Moreover, it was noticed that a pond that
was created in the subsided portion of the Red Wssh was quickly filled by silting
of the area during subsequent runoffs.
With this letter I am requesting that CMLRD waive the aerial photography and
subsequent mapping requirement for RP5. WFU will still conduct the ground surveys
of two stations over RP5 once mining of this panel begins. We believe conducting
additional aerial surveying and mapping over RP5 will not generate any new informa-
tion to supplement that which CMLRD slready has in its files.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

A4urari Shrestha
Senior Engineer
MS:lgp
cc: Don L.
