UNITED STATES NATURAL 1620 HIGHWAY 50 WEST
DEPARTMENT OF RESOURCES PUEBLO, CO 81008
AGRICULTURE CONSERVATION ( 719 )-543-8384 ✓
SERVICE ( 719 )-545-4835
Octoberi6 , 1995
To: VALCO
Mark Klune , General Manager
P.O. Box 857
Pueblo , CO 81002
Re: Reclamation Plan
This is in reference to an on-site investigation done October 2 , 1995
on two gravel pit sites to be reclaimed. The purpose of the
investigation was to develop a reclamation plan to be implemented after II
final grading and sloping is completed. The pit sites are located in
the N half of section 33 , T20S R65W. The following information may he j
used to fulfill reclamation requirements . III
The site is not prime farmland. The owner of the land is VALCO who
will be responsible for reclamation . The post-mining use will be two
lakes with potential for recreation. The furthest east lake will be
approximately 30 acres and the west lake will be approximately 5 acres .
The revegetation plan will address the land area around the lakes .
According to the Pueblo Area soil survey, soils originally found on
this site were Bloom silt loam and Glenberg-Haverson fine sandy loams .
These soils were the primary soils for gravel extraction.
The soil is more fully described in the attached material . This
includes a description of the soil series and a description of the soil
mapping unit . The mapping unit description details the best uses for Ii
this soil . I have included copies of two tables from' the soil survey,
Table 5 Engineering Properties and Table 6 Engineering Interpretations .
Please note that these properties are typical of the native ,
undisturbed soil and may not be representative of the disturbed
material to be revegetated.
The vegetation on the site consists primarily of annual weeds .
The Natural Resources Conservation Service recommends the following
steps to revegetate the site :
