~~
2.05.6(3)
One of Sve methods is used to determine the flow at surface water monitoring stations. The '
following methods are utilized; l) V-Notch weir; 2) corrugated metal pipe culvert utilizing pipe size,
and velocity of flow; 3) regular channel shape utilizing cross-sectional azea and velocity of flow; 4)
timing flow into a bucket of known volume and; 5) estimate of flow based upon experience. The ~~
following fable shows the flow monitoring method used at the monitoring stations based upon the
above monitoring method numbers 1 - 5. ~
Y
Active Monitoring Stations
B-1 Upper Bramiers Draw
B-2 Lower Bramiers Draw
N-1 Upper Naturita Creek
N-lA UpperNaturitaCreek
N-2 Lower Naturita Creek
H-2 Lower Broad Creek
S-1 Section 33 Creek
R-1 Recd Chatfield Ditch
SP-1 - SP-6 -All Springs
Inactive Monitoring, Stations
H-1 Upper Broad Creek
C-1 Upper Center Creek
C-2 Lower Center Creek
L-1 Upper Long Draw
L-2 Lower Long Draw
W-1 Upper Wickson Draw
W-2 Lower Wickson Draw
Flow Monitoring Method
3 -Regular Channel
2 -Culvert
3 - Regulaz Channel
3 -Regular Channel
3 -Regular Channel
3 -Regular Channel
3 -Regular Channel
5 -Flow Estimate
4 -Bucket
Flow Monitoring Method
3 -Regular Channel
2 -Culvert
1 -Weir
1-Wev
1 -Weir
3 -Regular Channel
1 -Weir
Surface and underground water samples are collected in bottles supplied by the testing laboratory.
Each water sample consists of three bottles, one unpreserved liter bottle and two 250 milliliter bottles,
one preserved with nitric acid and one preserved with sulfuric acid. The bottles aze shipped from the
field to the testing laboratory in an ice filled cooler.
Water samples from the bedrock wells and the alluvial wells aze taken after the wells have been
purged. At least three well volumes are evacuated in order to purge the wells in accordance with the
following table:
Well diameter in inches 3/4 1 1'/s 2 4 6
Gallons/lineal foot of water in well 0.023 0.04 0.09 0.16 0.65 1.47
2.05-35a April 1993
