The area was well covered <br /> with stripped topsoil and it was decided to try the native grasses with- <br /> out additional fertilizer since this technique has apparently worked well <br /> on the 2.7 acres planted in Cut 2. <br /> (6) Appraisal of Results of Reclamation Efforts. <br /> The 2.7 acres planted in May 1982, in Cut 2, are well covered with grass. <br /> The 51 acres of the old dump area planted in the Spring of 1983 have not <br /> sprouted as successfully. However, it is too early to judge the results. <br /> The area is starting to sprout volunteer sage, sunflowers and various other <br /> flowering plants as well as the thistles which usually form the first growth <br /> on disturbed land.
