<br /> <br />2.2 METAL END, GATE, AND CORNER POSTS <br />' A. Posts shall be either tubulaz steel or angle steel. All metal end, gate, and corner posts <br />used in constructing a specified type of fence on the project shall be of the same kind <br />and color. <br />B. Tubular steel posts shall be 2 1/2-inch minimum size, standard weight galvanized steel <br />pipe, and shall conform to ASTM A 120. Provide each tubular steel post with a <br />I galvanized, malleable cast ball or cap to fit snugly in the top of the post. <br />C. Angle steel posts shall be 2 1/2-inch by 2 1/2-inch by 1/4 inch size having a weight of <br />4.10 pounds per foot, and shall be fabricated from hot-rolled steel sections and conform <br />to requirements of ASTM A 702. <br />' 2.3 TOLERANCES <br />I A. All metal posts shall be subject to standadd manufacturing tolerances, except as follows: <br />(1) lengths shall not vary more than 1 inch under and 2 inches over; (2) weights are <br />nominal and shall not vary more than 3 1/2 percent in any one lot or shipment or more <br />than 5 percent under for any one post or anchor plate. <br />I 2.4 METAL POST BRACES <br />I A. Braces shall be either tubular steel braces or angle steel braces and shall conform to the <br />quality requirements hereinbefore set forth. All metal post braces used in constructing <br />' a specified type of fence on the project shall be of the same kind, style, and color as <br />the metal end and corner posts with which they are used. <br />B. Tubular steel braces shall be 1 5/8-inch OD size or larger. <br />C. Angle braces shall be 2 inches by 2 inches by 1/4-inch size or lazger. <br />I 2.5 FINISH <br />' A. Steel posts, steel post braces, and steel line posts shall be painted. Post to be painted <br />shall be cleaned of all loose scale prior to finishing. At least one coat of high-grade, <br />weather-resistant, air drying or baking, special steel paint or enamel, of a color selected <br />I by the RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE shall be applied. <br />2.6 BRACING WIRE <br />I A. Bracing wire shall be No. 9 or heavier, zinc-coated soft, smooth wire. <br />I 2.7 STABLES <br />A. Form of No. 9zinc-coated steel woes 1-1/2 inches long. <br />1 <br />' 6-18 <br />
