• The survey information consists of the survey of the four monuments accompanied with
corresponding diagrams to provide an analysis of the results. The surveys indicate the Fill has
settled from .7 feet to 1.943 feet. with a corresponding lateral movement of 0.33 feet to 0.85 feet.
The data suggests nothing more than the anticipated amount of settling and consolidation of the Fill.
2. The piezometer well was established in late 1994. A water level had been detected at the 60-
foot depth which corresponds to the level at which the drill penetrated consolidated material
underlying the rock drain. The water level has been interpreted to be at the interface of the bottom
of the rock drain and the underlying strata. Subsequent monitoring in 1998 has shown the water
level to remain consistently between the 54 to 59 foot depth.
No springs or seeps have been noted associated with the Fill.
In summary, the monitoring suggests that, during 1998, no significant changes have occurred in the
Section 16 Fill and the Fill is performing according to design.
C. West Pit Fill
Requirement
The West Pit Fill is presently under construction. All construction reports and quarterly
Certifications aze to be forwarded to the Division until construction is completed. Nine survey
• monuments have been installed and monitoring will be conducted quarterly. The piezometer well
was installed on June 25, 1996 and the completion report forwazded to the Division. The piezometer
well will be monitored quarterly. All monitoring reports aze to be submitted to the Division in the
Annual Reclamation Report.
esults
Copies of the construction reports and certifications found in Exhibit 8 indicate the construction of
the Fill is proceeding according to the approved plan.
1. The survey information consists of quarterly surveys of the nine monuments accompanied
with corresponding diagrams to provide an analysis of the results. The surveys indicate the fill has
settled from .08 feet to 3.36 feet with a corresponding lateral movement of .O1 feet to 2.06 feet.
The data suggests nothing more than the anticipated amount of settling and consolidation of the Fill.
2. The piezometer well was established in June 1996. The well was drilled through the spoil
and rock underdrain and penetrated the underlying strata. A water level had been detected at the 79-
foot depth which corresponded to the level at which the drill penetrated consolidated material
underlying the rock underdrain. The water level has been interpreted to be at the interface of the
bottom of the rock drain and the underlying strata. During 1998 the water level was detected in the
range of 78.4' to 78.9' depth which suggests there is no formation of a perched water zone in the base
•
