This is because the splitter embankment is slowly <br />being covered with tails. The purpose of the splittesr <br />embankment was to divide the ponds into two segments during <br />the initial disposal period when the disposal area <br />approximated the valley floor and was at the narrowest point. <br />The purpose of the splitter embankment was for ease c,f <br />operations in reclaiming water. The splitter embankment did <br />not serve as any sort of structural integrity. See I).6.1 of <br />the approved permit. According to the approved permit, phase <br />2 of the tailings disposal area would create a singles disposal <br />area because of deposition of the tailings over the t.op of the <br />splitter embankment. <br />A.SUB.SIDIARY OF flA7TLF.
