L.
BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
July 1Q 2003
Mr. Jim Dillie /
State of Colorado //
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Battle Mountain Resources Inc.
San Luis Project
CMLRB Permit No. M-88-112
June 2003 Monthl- y=
Dear Mr. Dillie:
RECEIVED
JUL 1 4 2003
Division ~f Minerals and Geology
The following summarizes monitoring and site activities at the Battle Mountain
Resources Inc. (BMRI), San Luis Project for the month of June 2003.
Division approval of CMLRB Permit M-88-112 Technical Revision (T'R) thirty-two (32)
was received by BMRI on June 20's, 2003. The TR-32 approval amends or modifies the
Division's previous permit surface and ground water monitoring requirements for the San
Luis Project. With exception of the staff gauge observations and recordings, BMRI will
initiate the TR-32 surface and ground water monitoring modifications on July ls`
Surface and ground water monitoring and analysis were completed for all required sites
during the month as identified in the TR-15 Quality Assurance and Quality Control
(QA/QC) plan. All surface water stations were inspected and recorded daily (i.e.,
regulazly scheduled work days) as per the permit terms and conditions of the TR-15
QA/QC plan until June 26's at which time the monitoring requirements of TR-32 were
initiated. As approved in the TR-32 QA/QC plan, all surface stream gauging and
sediment collection installations will be removed and subsequent monitoring
discontinued. Staff gauge and sediment collection inspection dates during the month of
June 2003 were 6/02-6/06, 6/09-6/12, 6/16-6/20, and 6/23-6/25 as represented by the
attached field log report copies. These inspections and recordings identified readings at
RS-1, RS-2, RS-3 and RS-5 as zero (0) inches; and RS-4 and RS-6 as dry. The monthly
precipitation accumulation for June was 1.67 inches, with the largest accumulation (i.e.,
0.52") occurring on June 17`h.
Vacuum on the tailing lysimeters was verified on June 30`s, no water was present for
sampling and subsequent analysis as represented on the attached field log report copies.
P.O.
