' EFFLUENT MONITORING
Three sediment control structures at Mine 3 are monitored. Site 24 is located
' at the reclaimed area of the abandoned Middle Creek underground mine.
Flows
' The flow rate data for the effluent sites is summarized on Table 17. The
' historic discharge data for the three sites is presented in Figures 24 through
26. Discharges from these ponds are effected by seasonal variations in
' precipitation. All of the plots show the typical seasonal variation with high
flows during spring runoff and cessation of flow during most of the rest of the
' year.
Water Quality
' Summaries of the water quality data for the three effluent sites are presented
' on Tables 30 through 35. and on Figures 27 through 29. The dissolved solids
data shows some typical seasonal variation: the water quality improves during
' spring runoff. Pond B (Site 76) and Meadow-South discharge (Site 99) do not
show any significant long term trend. The water quality is effected by mining
because the discharges have relatively high dissolved solids levels. The mean
' dissolved solids level for Site 24 has increased from approximately 700 mg/L to
2000 mg/L in 1986. Since none of these sites have significant discharges during
' the irrigation season they do no cause any significant impacts.

1
1
-B-
1
