' SPOIL SPRING MONITORING
' A monitoring program was initiated in 1986 and will be conducted annually until
such time as the monitoring requirement 1s eliminated. As per the approved plan
' the annual mine wide survey will be conducted during May and springs will be
measured for flow and field parameters. If a spring is discharging 35 gallons
' per minute or greater then it will be monitored throughout the remainder of the
year in accordance with the monitoring plan.
' Flows `
' The field data for the Spring 1986 spoil spring monitoring program is presented
on Table 28. The total flow from all four springs was only-0.040 cfs.
1 -
Water Quality
' The summary of the Spring 1986 spoil spring field data is presented on Table
28. The summary of the complete water quality data for the spoil springs is
presented on Table 29. The data indicates that the springs have a relatively
' low flow weighted mean dissolved solids of 810 mg/L. Due to the relatively low
dissolved solids concentration and very low flow rate the spoil springs are not
significant to the hydrologic regime. The spoil springs do not show increased
levels of trace metals or nutrients.
1
1

1

-7-
