Banks and Gesso, LLC
table that is beneficial to plant growth. Some of this land type is in native grass;
the wetter areas produce sedges and cattails. This vegetation is largely
sustained by the natural water table and by flooding.
Nunn Loam
This soil is on stream terraces in the County. Surface runoff is slow and the
hazard of water erosion is slight. In a representative profile the surface layer is
six inches thick and non-calcareous. The subsoil is grayish/brown clay about 17
inches thick. Below a depth of 23 inches it is yellowish brown in color,
calcareous and stratified to a depth of 40 inches.
Terrace Escarpments
Terrace Escarpments occur as steep slopes of present streams. They also occur
as steep faces of terrace that border the bottomlands and flood plains. This land
type consists of alluvium of variable materials and is very shallow over the sand
and gravel. These materials have a loamy sand layer, which in some areas is 20
percent gravel.
Much of this land type is rapidly being mined for sand and gavel and thereafter
not usable for farming. Terrace escarpments are too shallow, too gravelly, or too
steep for cultivation. This soil is better suited for grassland.
Vona Sandy Loam
This soil is on river terraces. This soil is formed in wind deposited sandy material.
The surface layer is loamy sand about nine inches thick and is noncalcareous.
The subsoil is coarse sandy loam about 13 inches thick, and noncalcareous. The
underlying material is sandy loam and calcareous loamy sand, which ranges in
depth 20 to 60 inches. This soil is cultivated and irrigated and is important
because of the highly developed truck farming in the area. It has a high suitability
for tree planting.
Proposed Hours of Oaeration
The proposed hours of operation will generally be 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, 6 days a
week for the mining, processing, and stockpiling of sand and gravel. Truck
Maintenance hours will be from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, 6 days a week. However,
due to occasional time commitments and possible weather delays, the Applicant
requests the ability to use extended hours of operation under special
circumstances. Extended hours of operation may involve 24-hour operation.
Emplovees
Approximately seven employees will typically be onsite during mining operations.
Adams County-CUP, Rezoning, Final Plat Stagecoach Mine.01045
Mobile'Pn;mbc Conaele, Inc.
