Banks and Gesso, LLC
evaporative loss, we anticipate a net loss of water between seepage and
evaporation on an annual basis. The Applicant will secure outside sources of
water to account for losses in the aggregate processing operations. More
detailed information on water issues are addressed in 6chibit G -Water
Information and in the Temporary Substitute Supply Plan (TSSP). The TSSP is
not being prepared for the Applicant by Banks and Gesso, LLC.
The Applicant commits to constructing four piezometers along the eastem edge
of the property to allow monitoring of groundwater levels upslope of the slurry
wall. If it is determined that the slurry wall creates a mounding effect along the
eastem edge of the property, the Applicant will install a French Drain system that
will allow water on the upslope side of the slurry trench to flow around the barrier.
Details of the drain system will be provided if and when R is determined that the
slung wall is causing a mounding effect on the upslope side of the wall.
Timetables for Mining and Reclamation Operations
The mining, plant operations, and redamation activities will occur in one phase
as described below:
The Applicant will initially erect .the processing plant and the scale/office in the
northern portion of the site. The plant areas may then be relocated throughout
the site as mining conditions dictate. Prior to erecting the processing equipment
the site will be stripped of topsoil and overburden. Overhead power lines may be
constructed to provide power for the electric de-watering pumps and plant
equipment. Mining will maintain a minimum 200-foot setback from the rivers top
of bank (as defined by Urban Drainage and Flood Control District) and will
proceed with mined slopes nearing vertical.
After all materials have been mined, all processing equipment will be removed to
fadlitate final redamation of site. The shale materials excavated from the floor
may be processed and hauled offsite. Final grading and scariFcation will prepare
reclaimed lands for seeding.
Description of Ove-burden, Deposit and Underlying Stratum
Based on the exploratory boreholes, the topsoil~verburden ranges from one to
three feet in thickness. Based on the number of vegetable and other agricultural
crops grown in surrounding areas, the topsoils are anticipated to be very fertile
for reclamation efforts (please see F~khibit C-2, Natural Features Map).
The alluvial deposit to be mined varies in thickness from 10 to 32 feet in depth,
averaging 23 feet. The underlying bedrock on the property is the
DenvedArapahoe shale. The alluvial deposit has a reputation for being
processed into high~uality concrete aggregate and other construction materials.
Adams County-CUP.
