unsaved')//newpage2.h[m http://wvnv.douglas.co.us/DC/Manager/open_fact.htm <br />TOOLS: The Douglas County Open Space Program engages in a variety of efforts to further the <br />conservation of natural resources and preservation of open space throughout the County, <br />• including: <br />• Purchasing lands for their ecological, agricultural, historical, archaeological, scenic, or other <br />open space values; <br />• Purchasing "development rights" from landowners, also known as conservation easements; <br />• Coordinating efforts with other resource management agencies, including the Colorado <br />Division of Wildlife, the Colorado Division of Pazks and Outdoor Recreation, the Douglas <br />County Soil Conservation District, Great Outdoors Colorado, and others; and <br />• Providing conservation information to landowners and the public. <br />PARTNERSHII'S: Douglas County works with the towns of Castle Rock, Parker and Larkspur, <br />the beneficiaries of a municipal share back incorporated into the sales and use tax, to implement <br />the towns' parks, trails and open space goals. <br />In addition, the County has and will continue to work with a wide range of partners to implement <br />its conservation goals, including: American Farmland Trust, Cherokee Ranch and Castle <br />Foundation, Colorado Cattlemen's Agricultural Land Trust, Colorado Division of Wildlife, <br />Colorado Division of Pazks and Outdoor Recreation, Colorado Open Lands, Douglas County <br />Land Conservancy, Great Outdoors Colorado, South Suburban Parks and Recreation District, The <br />• Conservation Fund, The Trust for Public Land and United States Forest Service. <br />With the help of these partners, Douglas County Open Space has successfully leveraged its funds <br />to strengthen the impact of our conservation efforts. Thus far, nearly every dollar spent 6y <br />Douglas County jor land acquisition has been matched by another dollar in partner <br />contributions. <br />Click here to learn about the Chatfield Basin Conservation Network <br />LAND PROTECTED : To date, Douglas County and its partners have successfully preserved <br />over 15,000 acres of land.
