• were completed.
East Taylor Pond -Although not part of the pond impoundment itself a slide occured in the vicinity
of the pond inlet. The slide material was removed by contractor in late summer. Some time later the
slide moved again. This area will need final repairs and stabilization before reclamation can occur in
the area. Currently, the slide imposes no impacting upon the stability or function of the pond. No
other repairs were made to this pond.
West Pit Pond - A small hillside slump located above the north facing hillside southeast of the pond
moved during spring snowmelt. To drain and stabilize the area , in late fall a trench was excavated
and filled with crushed 3 inch rock and a PVC drain pipe. The cause of the slump appeared to be a
roll in a shallow coal clay zone which directed a shallow perched water zone to a specific point, thus
causing the minor instability. Neither the pond embankment or pond function arejeopardized by this
area. In addition, the steel markers located on the hillside above and south of the West Pit Pond
• indicates no further evidence of instability on the remainder of the reconstructed hillside. structures.
No other repairs were made to this pond.
Section !6 Pond -The Section 16 pond required no maintenance.
Table I on the following page summarizes the sediment volume status for all ponds and shows when
the next sediment survey is required.
• 9
