Riverside Pit, Logan County Mining is proceeding on schedule in accordance with the mining plan aitd timetable included in the original application. The dredge system, as explained in the original application, started up this year in Stage I. The area mined by dredge was within the area previously cleared of overburden as shown in the original application. The area mined does not include any area that will be part of the final lake perimeter; therefore, no bank sloping was required under reclamation Phase I. Our reclamation plan calls for Phase II to begin in 1982. e1 drip irrigation system for trees and bushes to be planted along the south Dart of the western boundary line will be installed during the coming year. Reference is made to MLRB Rules and Regulations, effective July 1978, Section 2.40: 2.41 (1) No new land stripped this year; mining at lower depths of water conducted throughout mining season; no new land affected. See enclosed map, (2) No reclamation in 1978 required under approved appli~:ation. (3) Tree planting 2400 square feet. (4) Trees only according to item (f)(8) on page 9 of the application. See enclosed map. (a) Cottonwood, 20 trees, March 23, 1978; (b) Willow, 18 trees, March 23, 1978; (c) Plum, 36 trees, extended original thicket area, March 23, 1978 An experimental planting (in addition to the scheduled reclamation plan) as follows was also planted on March 23, 1978. (a) 25 Buffalo Berry; (b) 12 Sand Cherry; (c) 9 Current; (d) 3 Mulberry. (5) The entire pit area was at one time a feed lot. As a result, no further fertilization is desirable. (6) Tree planting most successful, but again for the second year June hail storms took quite a toll. (7) No new acreage will be disturbed in the next year. The mining plan will be followed. (Comparison of the enclosed map should be made with Reclamation Map, Exhibit F, of our original application.) (8) The Annual Report date is February 22. The effective date of all information herein is January 31, 1979.
