June 17, 1976
,~
COOLEY GRAVEL COMPANY •
MORRISON QUARRY - JEFFERSON COUNTY
" ANNUAL REPORT
There have been no operations of any nature except on the allowable
days of Monday through Saturday,
Drainage plans for the present operating situation have been
completed as proposed.
Feb. 17, 1975 - The east face of the fill for the stockpile and
plant area, fill face of the haul road to the red rock outcropping,
east end of the cut bank west of scale and the east end of the cut
bank near the shop Caere hydro-mulched, fertilized and seeded. The
seed being a mixture of native grass species as recommended by the
Thorne Ecological Institute.
April 15, 1975 - The east face of the fill for the stockpile and
plant area was seeded again with Crested Wheat, The seed was sown
with a hand seeder.
April 1, 1976 - A drain pipe was installed in the east end of the
fill for the stockpile and plant area as per our drainage plans,
The area disturbed by this installation and the fill face of the
haul road to the scale house were seeded again with a mixture of
Crested Wheat and Blue Grama (native) grasses. The seed was sown
with a hand seeder.
May 24, 1976 - The fill face of the haul road from scale to the red
rock outcropping was seeded again with a mixture of Crested Wheat
and Blue Grama (native) grasses. The seed was sown with a hand
seeder,
To date the success of the seedings has been satisfactory, There
has not been enough time elapse for the May 24, '76 seeding to be
evaluated. Better results were obtained by the hand broadcaster
than by the hydro-mulching, Results from the experimental hydro-
mulching of the cut banks were negative, All of the seedings were
conducted as recommended by the Thorne Ecological Institute.
Reclamation to the access road from the plant area to the top of
the quarry is complete and expected to be sufficient with exception
to proper maintenance, For details of reclamation 'and growth
accomplishments, refer to the Thorne Ecological Institute's report
of 1975.
All other reclamation plans have not commenced due to mining
activities not being completed in any other. areas,
