The following information was used to make calculations for this Year:
' -Estimated equilibrium moisture of 4.5%
-Measured raw coal tons of 588,620 at Roadside North with an estimated
' 8% moisture.
-Measured coal tons sold of 471,021 with an estimated moisture of 9.1°~
-Refuse tons of 117,599 with an estimated moisture of 18%
' The moisture added during mining calculates out to be 2.83 million gallons and the
moisture added during cleaning calculates out to be 4.6 million gallons.
' Water was used for as the primary means of dust control on the surface and
underground roads during the Year. Magnesium chloride and calcium chloride were
used on roads, both surface and underground, to reduce the manpower requirements
' for keeping the roads damp. Between the two mines approximately 3600 gallons of
water per day, 2 days per week were used. Usage on the surface roads was
' approximately 8,000 gallons of water per day, 5 days per week, 75°~ of the Year.
Water for the surface roads was taken from an approved point of diversion in the
Highline canal. A summary of the estimated consumptive use of water is as follows:
Total Gallons/ Gallons/
Source Gallons raw ton ton sold
Domestic
' Surface Facilities 737,000 1.25 1.56
Preparation Plant 6,178,000 10.5 13.1
Mine
' Mining 2,826,000 4.8 6.0
Preparation Plant 3,787,901 6.4 8.0
' Underground Roads 374,400 0.6 0.8
Highline Canal
,• Surface Roads 1.560.000 2.7 3.3
TOTAL 15,463,301 26.3 32.8
' ~HR 98 Pages 5-1-99
