Two walla, YGAL15 and i6, monitor water quality in the Craeay Creak alluvium. Wall YGAL15 •
displays an increasing TDS trend, although no mining has occurred yet in this basin. Well
YCAL16 displays a decreasing TDS trend.
Four calla; YSAL1, 3, S, and 12; monitor rater quality in the Saga Creek alluvium.
Monitoring of these calla in not required by the Yoast Mine permit, since no mining ie
scheduled in this basin until 2000.
Wadge Overburden. Well YOy2B monitors rater quality in this unit. It displays an
increasing TDS trend.
Wadge Coal. Well YW28 monitors rater quality in this unit. It displays a level TDS
trend.
Wadge Underburden. Well YWU28 monitors water quality in this unit. it displays a
deexeaeing TDS trend.
Comparison of Ground Water Quality to Wataz Use Standards. SCC has compiled lists of •
standards for irrigation (Table 5) and livestock (Table 6). Thaae lists era campoaed
mostly of Colorado Department of Aaalth (COON) standards, although other agencies'
standards have been used if they are more stringent or if the CDOA has no atandazd for a
particular parameter. Sae the Yoast dine PAP, Tables 7-21 and 7-23, Por a more detailed
explanation of these standards.
Table 7 provides a comparison of ground water quality to irrigation standards. Standards
that were exceeded during this reporting period are cadmium (1 wall) , iron (1 well) ,
manganese (6 walla), dissolved solids (1 well), and sulfates (S walla).
Table S provides a comparison of ground water quality to livestock standards. No
standards vase exceeded during thin reporting period.
in the Probable Hydrological Coneaquances (PRC, Tab 17) section of the Yoaet Mina PAP,
predictions rare made as to the expected TDS increases to be observed at various
monitoring wells. The following table outlines these predictions along with this year's
observed average values. •
4
