RECElVEC7
JUN 0 9 2003
Division ~f Minerals and Geology
Mining of Area H should then proceed north to south, ultimately ending up at a
location north of the cove on the south end of the quarry. In the meantime, backfilling of
the cove on the south end should proceed as far as possible without interfering with the
south end of Area H.
As mining of Area H proceeds southward, the remaining material from the north
end of the layback can be excavated and anything not marketable simply dropped into the
mined out portions of Area H. Some continued work on the south end of the layback
(where work is currently occurring) could then proceed if the material is pushed
northward and deposited into the mined out portions of Area H. Otherwise, work on the
south part of the layback may need to be delayed until the mining of Area H is further
south and the layback material dropped into the over-excavation in Area H. This does
seem to be a continuing problem with the integration, but, at this point, no easy solution
to that interference is visible.
One possible solution is to continue excavation of the south end of the layback
while Area H is mined on the north end. The material that comes from the south end of
the layback could then be placed in the cove; thereby nearly finishing the cove by the
time the Area H excavation reaches the land below the south end of the layback. Then
once the Area H work moves south of the south end of the layback, that could be finished
by simply dropping the material from the layback into Area H behind the final excavation
of Area H which would occur on the south end.
