resulting report should provide some preliminary answers to questions raised
concerning revision of soil cover depth for final reclamation.
Area 9
Another slope on tailing dam number one was covered with soil salvaged
from within the tailing basin. Four thousand four hundred and sixteen
(4,416) cubic yards of soil were placed to an average depth of one foot in
September and October, and the three-acre area was reseeded.
No timber was cleared in 1988 to allow for tailing deposition area
expansion as forecast in the 1987 annual report; however, in 1989 180 acres
of timber will be cleared to accommodate tailing deposition. Timber cleared
in 1989 will require little, if any, revegetation treatment as the slope is
minimal and disturbance to the grasses, fortis, and shrubs is slight.
Tailing deposition and water acreage totaling 694 acres at the end of
1986 did not exceed the 715 acres which were estimated.
In general, due to production goals and low impact outdoor construction
projects, the disturbances requiring treatment are few. This should be the
case for the next two-year period.
SURETY
Enclosed is the annual fee of $275.00 and map as required by Rule 2.42.
The reclamation trust (sinking) fund as described in our technical revision
of 1988 has be re-evaluated, considered uneconomical, and will therefore not
be initiated. Thank you for your review and approval nonetheless.
Also attached is the biennial recomputation of the estimated Henderson
mine and mill reclamation costs as specified by the Board for the period
1989-1990. We will await your verification of the amount before adjusting
our bond value.
Sincerely,
~~~
C ar es L.
