• 5. Install instrumentation to measure the pressures and flow of the natural
gas.
Flow and pressure measurement instrumentation wi11 be installed on the
29-24 well pad to measure the incoming natural gas pressure, the natural gas
flow to the compressor, the natural gas flow to the well, and the natural gas
injection pressure. (Figure 6)
The instrumentation data will be included in the ASLLP process control
system. An average data point will be retrieved every 10 seconds. This data will
reside within the ASLLP PI Data Historian software for monitoring and
documentation. This system has the flexibility to provide data in any format
chosen. At present, ASLLP envisions providing daily averages for all measured
parameters for agency oversight.
6. Modify the ASLLP solution mining wellhead to operate at the anticipated
surface pressures.
Presently the well 29-24 has ANSI class 600 flanges and valves installed
on the wellhead. These flanges and valves have a maximum pressure rating of
1410 psi at 400 degrees F. The wellhead must be modified to ANSI class 900.
This will provide a pressure rating of 2115 psi @ 400 degrees F. (Figure 7)
• Cavity Fluid Displacement General Information
Upon completion of the solution mining phase, approximately 200,000
tons of nahcolite will have been produced. The cavity volume will contain 25 -
30 million gallons of fluid. This fluid will contain between 22 - 27 thousand tons
of nahcolite in solution. At a displacement rate of 200 gallons per minute, the
displacement will take 86 to 105 days to complete. Approximately 300 million
standard cubic feet of natural gas will be required to displace the cavity. The
compressor flow rate requirement will be approximately 2200 standard cubic feet
per minute.
The bottom of the long 4'/z" tubular in well 29-24 is 2259 feet below the
surtace. The pressure required to displace the fluid would be 1500 - 1600 psi.
This equates to 0.66 - 0.71 psi per foot. The current line pressure within the
ASLLP main gas pipeline is 600 to 800 psi. The initial displacement will not
require the operation of the compressor. The final stages of the displacement
will require the compressor.
Cavity Fluid Displacement Procedure
Upon completion of the seismic modeling phase, the fluid displacement
• phase can be initiated. The procedures for displacing the fluid from well 29-24
are as follows:
