Several tasks will need to be completed before the natural gas injection can
be initiated:
7. Engineering study to determine the affects of confining pressure on the
cavity stability.
Agapito and Associates has performed a study of the relationships of
cavity diameter, cavity pressure, and cavity pressure cycling to overall cavity
stability. Past work indicates that by managing size and cavity pressure, a long
term stable cavity can be maintained. This study will serve as ASLLP's guidance
for this issue. This engineering study is included as a supplement to this plan.
2. Install an 8" tap into the Piceance facility natural gas pipeline.
To provide natural gas for the displacement of the fluid from well 29-24, a tap
will need to be installed on the 8" natural gas pipeline currently feeding the
boilers at the Piceance facility. The area chosen for the tap is directly southeast
of well 20-36. This is a disturbed area with excellent access. No additional
disturbance would be anticipated. (Figure 3)
The tap will consist of an 8" weld-in tee and hot tap. ASLLP has performed this
type of work in the past.
• Upon completion of the hot tap a 4" to 8" isolation valve will be installed.
~ 3. Install approximately 3500 feet of 4"surface pipeline to transport natural
gas to well 29-24.
To provide natural gas for the displacement of the fluid from well 29-24, a
4" pipeline will be installed on the Piceance facility main piperack. This line will
start directly southeast of v!~e1120-36 and end at well 29-24 following the existing
pipe rack. This is a disturbed area. No additional disturbance would be
anticipated. (Figure 4)
4. Install a gas compressor to compress the gas for downhole injection.
A natural gas fuel reciprocating gas compressor will be installed on the 29-
~I 24 well pad. The compressor will be set within the area of the well location. No
additional disturbances are anticipated.
The compressor will be a self contained rental unit. The installation will
require the construction of a sand base on the well pad. The unit will be
transported by truck to the location, and then installed. (Figure 5)
•
