"
• 3.2 Parachute Creek Monitoring
Parachute Creek monitoring will include discharge and water quality. Parachute Creek
will be monitored at upstream and downstream gauging locations. The upstream location,
historically designated PC12, is just below the confluence of Wheeler Gulch. The downstream
location is historically referred to as PC 11.
The baseline discharge and water quality of Parachute Creek, in the vicinity of the site, will
be established prior to the star[ of commercial solution mining operations by the collection and
analysis of 5 quarters of data collection. The surface water stations will be monitored on a once-
per-quarter basis during the baseline monitoring period and during commercial operations,
according to USGS protocol. During these monitoring events, the discharge will be measured and
Parachute Creek samples wilt be analyzed for parameters listed in Table 5. The metals and
nutrients listed in Table 5 will be analyzed for the dissolved portion for compatibility with the
historical database for Parachute Creek. Monitoring will be performed by American Soda, and
water samples will be sent to a State ofColorado-certified lab.
3.3 Spring and Secp Monitoring-Piccance Site
• Springs and seeps at the Piceance Site will be monitored for discharge and water quality.
The spring and seep survey will encompass the lease boundary and the area behveen the southern
Agapito Associates, Inc.
