Exhibit "D"
MINING PLAN
A. General Proposal :
The present natural configuration of the land proposed
to be added to this permit, as well as the land already
under permit, is a cliff containing sand and gravel deposits.
There is virtually no topsoil or overburden in this area,
and therefore iardly any removal has bee or will be neces- X
sary. To date, the sand and gravel deposit has been mined
by digging a pit in the cliff top. The gravel has been
mined in the originally proposed Phase I to a depth of
approximately 30 - 35 feet. The originally proposed Phase
II is in use as a work area and a stockpile area, which will
continue to be necessary for the foreseeable future; as
operations have progressed, it has come to appear most
feasible to leave this area to be mined last, if at all ) pAt
the present time, the operator doubts that he will ever mine
east of the present location of the wash plant because of
the narrowness of the area and the need for convenient
ancillary operations and accessible stockpiles .
The operator has cut outward through the cliff face
in the originially proposed Phase I and will eventually do
so in all other areas after mining, with the final result
that a portion of the face of the cliff will have been moved
back approximately 200 feet from its original location. The
resulting highwall in all areas will be sloped with a grade
not to exceed 2: 1, and theland at the foot of the slope
level )from there to the Stremme & Gates
will be enera ly
Ditch. The ditch will be protected at all times , anti no
sand and gravel will be mined below the level of the ditch.
In the originally proposed Phase III, gravel is presently
being mined to a depth of approximately 30 - 35 feet, which
again is never below the level of the ditch. The sand and
gravel deposit throughout the area presently under permit
