Banta, <br />Division Oeeclor <br />Mr. Rick Mills <br />Colorado Yampa Coal Co. <br />29587 Routt County Road No. 27 <br />Oak Creek, Colorado 80467 <br />RE: Review - Annual Hydrologic Report - 1989 Water Year - C-11-071 <br />Dear Mr. Mills: <br />We have reviewed the above-referenced Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) and our <br />comments are outlined below, Please respond tD this letter at your earliest <br />convenience. <br />Monitoring Frequency <br />Bedrock Wells - <br />1, The second sample for bedrock wells 026-79-6, 026-79-4 and 009-79-4 <br />.was taken in early October, 1989. Please be sure that further <br />sampling is conducted no later than September of any given year. <br />2. The September, 1589 sample for well 006-82-74 was not analyzed for <br />sulphate. Please check your data and provide the value, or explain <br />the omission, <br />Alluvial Wells - <br />1. All requirements were met. <br />2. Please revise future map submittals to show the location where Fish <br />Creek water level is measured for well 006-AY-1, <br />Spoil Wells - <br />All requirements were met. <br />Surface Water - <br />The data for site 1002 (Fish Creek) indicate no flow on September 7 <br />and September 11, yet a flow of 4.2 cubic feet per second (cfs) is <br />recorded for September 22. Please explain this apparent <br />discrepancy. <br />2. Since flow was recorded on September 24; 1989, why was the required <br />fourth full suite analysis not conducted? <br />
