During the time since our hydrology monitoring
program was implemented, three significant events have
occurred: 1) at least a year's baseline data have been
compiled on all surface water and ground water monitoring
sites, 2) a decision was made to postpone indefinitely
the development of the P and J Pfines, and 3) mining at
Northern No. 1 has been temporarily ceased.
To date the program has consisted of six basic. types
of monitoring: surface water, ground water, mine caater,
sedimentation ponds, stock ponds and spring seep water.
Ide have continued this monitoring program in order to
obtain at least one year of data. In December of 1951
cae completed one year's data collection for each of
our six baseline monitoring systems. The purpose of
this letter is to notify you that eae intend to reduce
our baseline data collection. Of course cue will main-
tain our required system of alluvial monitoring and
monitoring for the Curtis Creek area. fde have designed,
with the help of our consultants, a system cahich caill enable
us to continue monitoring in the areas which could be affected
b;~ our operation in the Rienau Mine (G Seam) and the
